The promotion and control of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases in Older Adults: view from a diagnostic study

Abstract
The article presents the main results obtained from the diagnosis carried out at the Clemencia Foundation and the Sofía Ratinoff Asylum of the City of Guayaquil, in relation to the promotion and control of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases in Older Adults. The study was developed by students and teachers of the Nursing career, from the Instituto Superior Universitario Espíritu Santo; with the objective of diagnosing the current state of the Elderly in relation to the promotion and control of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases in the Foundation. The research followed a mixed methodology (qualitative and quantitative), exploratory, field, and hermeneutic; It was used within the theoretical methods, analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive; and the empirical ones are observation, interview and survey. To process the data obtained from the quantitative instruments applied, percentage analysis was used. Concluding that there are still problems and challenges related to health promotion, such as lack of knowledge of NCDs on the part of older adults, little appreciation of the benefits of healthy habits practices, and little control and management of these diseases, which affect the well-being and quality of life of older adults.
